Micro-needling skin treatment
Skin rejuvenation and collagen stimulating anti-ageing micro skin-needling facial treatment.
Micro-needling Facial Treatments
Micro-needling face treatments for a natural non-invasive collagen-stimulating alternative to muscle relaxing injections. The micro-needling pen improves skin tone and gives you firmer skin from just one treatment.
Micro-needling is a fantastic alternative to injections, skin peels and micro-dermabrasion. It stimulates the production of new collagen, tightens and rejuvenates the skin and evens out skin tone.
It’s an exceptional treatment for acne and noticeably reduces and improves acne scarring.
What are the benefits of micro-needling?
Micro-needling is the most effective non-surgical anti-ageing procedure you can have.
It’s a long-lasting anti-ageing treatment and especially good for issues like dehydration, open pores, dull dry skin, pigmentation and fine lines. I’ve seen fantastic results on acne and acne scarring, even when the scars have been historical.
It can be used on all skin types and unlike micro-dermabrasion and skin peels, you can have micro-needling at any time of the year.
How does micro-needling work?
The automated needle pen has 12 micro-needles that oscillate and penetrate to 0.5 cm. It allows me to rapidly inject hyaluronic acid and active nutrient serums deep into the dermal layer of the skin.
As the needles penetrate, they cause a trauma to the skin. This stimulates the fibroblasts (the part of our immune system that binds the skin together) and triggers a natural healing response that boosts the collagen and elastin that’s made naturally by the body.
The serums then encourage the production of good quality collagen and elastin and the treatment leads to smoother, younger looking, rejuvenated skin
Does micro-needling hurt?
The speed of the needles reduces discomfort during treatment, but you may see some redness for up to 36 hours afterwards. Your skin may also feel dry for several days, but after two weeks, it will feel wonderful!
How much does micro-needling cost?
Micro-needling uses an automated ‘pen’ with 12 needles to rapidly inject hyaluronic acid and active nutrient serums deep into the dermal layer of the skin.
The action stimulates the fibroblasts (the part of our immune system that binds the skin together) triggering a natural healing response that boosts collagen and elastin that’s made naturally by the body.
Yes – and unlike micro-dermabrasion and skin peels, you can have micro-needling at any time of the year.
The speed and size of the needles reduce discomfort during treatment. Both the depth and the speed can be customised to make sure you’re comfortable throughout.
Laser treatments use heat, micro-needling doesn’t. Micro-needling is non-thermal and non-surgical so it can be performed on all skin types with reduced risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation or formation of fibrotic scar tissue.
The actual skin micro-needling only takes around 20 minutes, but the full treatment takes between 45 and 60 minutes. I’ll cleanse the skin and apply some soothing serums first, then micro-needle. Afterwards, I’ll apply a mask, cleanse again and finish with some more gentle serums and creams.
Expect your face to be red and a little bit sore for up to 36 hours afterwards. It may also feel dry and tight for several days, a little like you have sunburn. These are natural responses to the trauma caused during the treatment.
Hyaluronic acid is ‘hyperlipic’ – this means it attracts water and pulls it down so after 14 days your skin will feel wonderfully soft and hydrated.
Yes, the results are instant. You’ll both see and feel a firmness and a lifting and tightening immediately after your first micro-needling treatment. Your skin will feel plumped and smoother.
Yes, you can apply serums and moisturisers as normal. Hydrating serums are especially good – I can advise on a hyaluronic acid post-treatment which will ease the tightness.
It’s best to wait 24 hours before exercising. The technique increases blood flow to the surface of the skin and exercise can cause it to sting. It won’t affect the results, but it might be uncomfortable.
You can, although I recommend you wait 24 hours before applying a full face of evening make-up.
One treatment will give you results. A three treatment protocol will give you lasting, visible results. Each treatment should be four weeks apart and spread over a 12 week period. After that, a treatment every 6-8 weeks will maintain the results and give you firmer, smoother skin.
Allow at least two weeks post-treatment to allow your skin to heal before having any other skin procedure. Ideally your first three treatments should be four weeks apart over a 12 week period and then every 6-8 weeks after that.
If I’m treating you for acne-scarring then I’ll usually recommend you have the first three treatments two weeks apart for maximum results.
Micro-needling is fantastic for reducing and improving acne scars, even if they’re old scars.
Yes, you can safely combine it with a Biologique Recherche facial or HIFU skin tightening.
You must be 18 or over to come to me for micro-needling.
Yes. I go through a full medical history with all clients before micro-needling to assess any medical conditions and medications you might be taking. If you’re diabetic, we’ll discuss the type of diabetes and how you manage it.
