Lady eyes that have dark circles

How to solve dark circles and milia around your eyes

Do you struggle with puffy dark eyes and hard white spots?

From time to time we have all experienced discolouration and puffing under our eyes, usually associated with sleep deprivation that leaves skin pale and puffy and allows dark tissue and blood vessels beneath the skin to show through. A good night’s sleep will usually rectify this quite quickly, but dark circles and Milia that permanently surround the eyes are different and usually attributable to a number of factors. The good news is that there are several things you can do to alter the appearance of this skin that is highly effective and produces dramatic results with a little bit of commitment and patience.

What causes dark circles and those white spots?

Firstly, let’s take a look at what causes these conditions. There are always several factors that affect the condition of our skin; biological, environmental, lifestyle and nutritional. Quite often, simple changes to our diet and lifestyle can have a dramatic effect on the appearance of our skin.

Dark circles: There are a number of factors that cause the skin around our eyes to darken. People with darker or olive-toned complexions can genetically have higher concentrations of melanin under the eyes that causes this pigmentation, but your diet and skin care and cleansing routine are far more likely to be the cause of this darkened skin.

Milia: These are small, white spots that are caused when keratin gets trapped under the surface of the skin. For many people, this could simply be due to a lack of exfoliation or using the wrong makeup and skin care products. But in some circumstances, a high cholesterol level from a diet high in saturated fat could be a contributing factor to the cause of these white spots.

How can diet and nutrition help?

We’ve all heard the term ‘you are what you eat’ and I agree. What we put in will directly affect how we feel, how we look and our overall health. We’ve already seen that high cholesterol could be playing a part in your condition so the first steps would be to address this and cut down on those saturated fats. The next thing you need to examine is how you are helping your liver to function more effectively and create a better balance of healthy gut bacteria. Apple Cider Vinegar and Thistle Milk are both known to help with liver detoxification, flushing toxins from the liver and improving your natural blood filtration process. A build-up of toxins in the liver will have a direct effect on your skin so consideration of combining these supplements with a liver healthy diet is an essential process in improving your skin’s tone and texture.

Cut back on your refined carbohydrates and increase those essential fatty acids to ensure that you have a healthy and well-balanced level of gut bacteria as this will directly affect the way in which your body retains nutrients and absorbs the vitamins, minerals and antioxidants your body needs to keep your skin looking healthy.

Which treatments help reduce dark circles and milia?

The Biologique Recherche face treatment stimulates the epidermis which instantly makes the skin feel energised and toned. The skin around the eye is especially thin and therefore shows the blood underneath which is seen as dark circles.  Nourishing the skin with the gentle liquid exfoliation Lotion P50 and boosters, as they enhance cell renewal, firms and hydrate the skin, this help to prevent and remove the formation of the milia.  Lotion P50 balances the pH level of your skin which stimulates the epidermal reconstruction to energise and tone your skin each and every day which can prevent the build-up of cholesterol under the skin.

What about take-home products?

How you manage and treat your skin on a day to day basis will be as important as the treatments you receive in the clinic. We will prescribe a revised home care skin regime that is tailored to your skin instants and will form an essential part of improving and reducing your dark circles and Milia. The Biologique Recherche Methodology achieves astounding effectiveness centred around a clinical approach to beauty using only pure, concentrated raw ingredients combined with innovative and precise procedures. A combination of gentle exfoliators, boosters and regenerating eye creams will be prescribed alongside a regime that is tailored to produce optimum results for your specific skin instant and condition. Your prescribed treatment regime will be based around the Biologique Recherche Lotion P50, the hero product from the range. This gentle enzyme based exfoliator lowers the pH level of the skin, allowing cells to naturally melt away from each other as opposed to harsh mechanical abrasion which can damage the skin. This, in turn, leads to enhanced skin turnover which will improve the efficiency of products that follow to support skin brightness, hydration and tone.

What results can you expect?

With a combination of clinic treatments and an ongoing prescribed home care regime you can expect to see excellent results, but you will need to be patient.

Is there anything else you can do?

Milia can be removed through the process of electrolysis which a good beauty salon should be able to offer you. It is important that you ensure that the salon therapists have received the correct training and it would be worth investing some time into looking at client feedback and reviews of not just the treatment but the salon you are considering having the treatment done at.
